Esta Livio — the name means 'it's alive' — began in London in 2006 and moved to Lahore in 2009, where the band settled into its lasting shape around Hasan Shahid (vocals, bass, production) and Hamza Maqsood (guitar, keyboard, and the artwork). They were first known for rock covers of improbable material before turning to originals: alternative rock sung across Urdu, English and Punjabi, of which 'Aakheya See' and 'Wekh Tamasha' are the best known. The lyrics of several of their songs have been published in Punjabi literary magazines.
